Weekly Round-up plus Music Video Ideas

We have good news: We've finished up in the recording studio...and have a new song which was added to the album, called 'Running Circles' which will be up on MySpace for you guys to hear by the end of play today!

To all those who came to support us at Breezers last Saturday, Grazie Mille! Please, to note again, Zini Music Festival this weekend - we have moved our slot to Friday at 9pm (no longer Sat slot), and Friday 01 May is a public holiday. Fest gates open at 10am, camping facilities available and included in your entrance costs.

Ok, so if you live in South Africa, and you've had your head in the sand (because, let's face it, like most of us, its the easiest way to live your life happy and carefree around here) and still haven't tuned into MK, South Africa's very own MTV, on DSTV channel 324 - then seriously...Where have you been?! MK showcases some of SA's hottest talent in the music industry including top international acts. So we get that it is in Afrikaans (which gives Germany no excuse) but most of us learnt that in school anyway, and besides, its all about the "musiek". To get to the point - it's the place to be seen if you're an up-and-coming SA band with an album coming out, hence why we need to get featured on MK.

So we have this friend, who has a friend, who knows somebody, who knows someone else...who could help us do a music video, which we could send in to MK and fulfil our short-term goal of being recognised on a national front. We've got a couple of ideas, but seeing as you're the fans - we want you to let us know what song you think we should use for our first video and your ideas for what it should be all about (like specific venues etc). To do so, leave your comments below - you input will be greatly appreciated!

* Peace Party People * .... And remember, as long as we got music, you know we gonna be ok!

Then, VERY Important change...
Zini Music Festival has changed the programme slightly and we are no longer playing on the Saturday, but now on Friday 01 May at 9pm
This is great news as we've been asked to open the stage for International reggae star LKJ (Linton Kwesi Johnson) at the Bluff Fairground on Saturday 02 May from 6pm. Tickets from Computicket

Alright here it is - Mtunzini gig info...

The festival will be held at Natures Way Backpackers in Mtunzini (Zini), up the North coast of KZN on the 1 st of May 2009. The surroundings are gorgeous, the atmosphere amazing, and if thats not enough they even have two tame zebras, camping facilities, a beer tent, craft market, food stalls and a chance for you to get involved in a community charity project - heres what to do:
Zini Music Festival is acting as a collection point for 3 outreach projects in KZN, Woza Moya being one of them. They will be collecting donations such as: unwanted clothes, shoes, household utensils and toys, and even food. In return you will receive discounts on your entrance tickets according to the amount donated. For every Box (more or less 5 plastic checkers packets) you get R10 off your ticket on arrival.
The BIGGER the contribution the BIGGER the discount! Its a great initiative the guys from Zini Music Fest are showing! The Latest - Manuvah To Land

For our first time at Zulu Jazz Lounge, we're definately convinced that it won't be the last - what a vibe!! With only a third of the audience we're used to performing to (it being a school night and all) the energy produced by the group in the intimate setting was awe-inspiring!

This is definately a venue with pizzazz! Luna Lounge's Debbie was there with the reggae act we supported, The Meditators, with her funky lumo-green poi which she gracefully sported on the open dance floor, creating a care-free vibe synonymous to the music of the evening.

Thanks to Morne' for the awesome job you did on the sound - from where we were, the rhythm, the melody, and the harmony of the four on stage painted a pretty colourful scene, really complimenting each of their talents.

We do recommend the venue if you're in the mood for a relaxed, cozy yet cool, chilled out place to hang out and listen to good music. Its cosmopolitan and cultured, and we met alot of foreigners taking some time out to emerge themselves in the heart of Durban's music scene (even purchasing some of our demo albums - thanks for the support guys!) Oh and ladies...the Cosmo's are AMAZING!

So come catch Manuvah To Land there next time when they embrace the stage again on the last Thursday of April - details will be put up shortly. In the meantime though, Manuvah To Land will be performing up the north coast for a change at a backpacker lodge in Mtinzini (see gig list for details).

* Peace out *

Jack Daniels Jamming!

What a jam session we had on Saturday night (21 March 2009) with Jack Daniels, Society, Slingshot productions and our mates, Pocket Change.

The gig kicked off at 10pm with Brandon Hunt's Pocket Change, performing their all-original fusion reggae, ska-punk, Sublime-inspired sound and lyrics, written and produced by Brandon himself, and dressed up by a hip-hop rapping and beatboxing duo, featuring Pasgenik Makatini. Together this eccentric team have created an authentic genre for the Durban music scene - Acoustic Hip-hop. Brandon will be performing at Splashy Fen 2009 with the famous Syd Kitchen - be sure to catch them in their Friday night slot @ 8.30 in the marquee. Listen to Syd's new song - click here

We'd just like to thank Pocket Change for opening the stage on a good note, and setting the tone for a musical evening tributed to the best of Durban's fresh fusion-reggae-rock artists. We had a great turnout so thanks to all who joined us for an evening of nonconformist mayhem! Peforming all the songs you've come to love and know, including a fresh and new addition to the line-up, and of course not to mention Scottie's presence for his rapping interlude to 'A Thousand Eyes' (which went down just as well as the Jack Daniels was), and finishing off with the help of Brandon - the Sublime hit, What I Got.

Thanks to those at Society for offering a novel venue to showcase the best of Durban music in what is set to be a great music festival with the support of Jack Daniels. For more on the Jack Daniels sessions @ Society, click here.

Manuvah To Land will be opening up the stage for reggae band, The Meditators on Thursday evening (26 March 2009) at the Zulu Jazz Lounge (corner of Smith and Albany, next to the Playhouse -parking in the Albany Parkade just off Albany street). Come join us for an evening of smooth, soulful Durban culture.

Tuff Masters open up for Manuvah To Land (M2L)

Manuvah To Land (M2L) rocked it out with local upcoming reggae band, Tuff Masters led by Kuwi Msomi. This amazingly talented family band of 4 played their first gig at BAT centre in 2007, and blew the crowd away at their first live performance at The Office in Warner Beach last Saturday (March 14 2009) where they opened up for M2L, boasting the superb drumming skills of Msomi's youngest son of 7yrs old.
For those of you who were lucky enough to attend the gig, the fan pics can be found in the sidebar.

Drop us a message and tell us what you thought of the gig!

Tuff Masters have released an album. For more details, leave us a message and we will give you more info.
